In addition to proper at-home dental hygiene, twice-yearly dental cleanings are probably the most important way to maintaining good oral hygiene. Our cleaning is done in two painless, gentle steps. First we scale the teeth to remove plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces. Next, the teeth are buffed to polish their surface and to remove any final plaque. Lastly, I do a final exam, which includes an oral cancer screening.
For teeth whitening, we offer two options: in-office or at-home. Our in-office procedure will produce the most significant color change in your teeth in the shortest time, usually within an hour. It is accomplished by applying a high-concentration peroxide gel over teeth and activating it with laser energy.
The second method is one you can do at home using one of our whitening kits. Often patients choose to combine both teeth-whitening options. This allows them to have the in-office teeth whitening treatment, while being able to use their custom home trays to maintain the whiteness as often as they choose.
Other aesthetic procedures include Invisalign®, which uses a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners, to correct misaligned teeth over a period of time. We also do Bonding to close small gaps and repair chipped teeth, and apply Veneers, a thin layer of material placed over a tooth to change its color, shape or length.
This is the art of restoring decayed, damaged and lost teeth.
As an aesthetic dentist, I recommend white composite filings -- they look most natural, feel most comfortable and are mercury-free. For more extensive tooth damage, a crown or veneer may be required. For irreparable or missing teeth, implants can provide you with a favorable and lasting solution, creating beautiful smiles that are both naturally aesthetic and permanent.
This is a syndrome characterized by bleeding and receding gums and bone loss. Gum disease is actually your body’s responses to inflammation caused by the nasty bacteria from long-standing plaque left on tooth surfaces. (Another reason for proper home hygiene and twice-yearly dental cleanings).
Non-surgical treatment usually consists of a series of deep cleanings. Additional courses can include localized antibiotic or laser therapy. These methods, when combined with improved patient home care, has proven very successful, and can often save my patients a trip to the periodontist for "surgical" interventions. If you do require surgical treatment, I can refer you to some of the area’s finest periodontists.
